Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Hast thou received the story of the Enveloper? 1 (Some) faces on that day shall be downcast, 2 toiling [under burdens of sin,] worn out [by fear,] 3 They will enter in the hot blazing Fire, 4 They will be given to drink from a boiling spring, 5 They shall have no food except bitter dry thorns 6 Which will neither nourish nor avail against hunger. 7 [Other] faces, that Day, will show pleasure. 8 and pleased with the result of their deeds in the past. 9 In a high Garden 10 Where they shall hear no (word) of vanity: 11 with a flowing spring, 12 Wherein are couches raised 13 And cups put in place 14 And cushions ranged 15 and carpets outspread. 16 Do they not look at the camels, how they are created? 17 how heaven was lifted up, 18 And at the mountains, how they are rooted and fixed firm? 19 And the earth, how it is made a vast expanse? 20 Therefore advise; indeed you are a proclaimer of advice. (The Holy Prophet is a Remembrance from Allah.) 21 Thou art not at all a warder over them. 22 But whoever will turn away (from the Truth), 23 Allah will punish them with the greatest punishment. 24 Indeed, to Us is their return. 25 then upon Us shall rest their reckoning. 26
