The chiefs of the people who did not believe and denied the life to come, though We had given them good things of this life to enjoy, (said): "He is only a mortal like you. He eats as you do, and drinks as you drink. 33 "If ye obey a man like yourselves, behold, it is certain ye will be lost. 34 Does he promise you that when you are dead and are reduced to dust and bones, you will be brought forth to life? 35 ۞ Far-fetched, utterly far-fetched is what you are being promised. 36 There is naught but our life in this world; we die and we live and we shall not be raised again. 37 He is but a man who hath fabricated against God a lie, and in him we are not going to be believers. 38 He said, “My Lord! Help me as they deny me.” 39 He replied: 'Before long, by the morning, they shall be remorseful' 40 Then the shout laid hold of them in truth, and We made them a refuse; so away with the wrong-doing people! 41 Thereafter, after them, We produced other generations; 42 No people can hasten their term, nor can they delay (it). 43 Then We sent Our messengers in succession. Every time there came to a nation its messenger, they denied him, so We made them follow one another [to destruction], and We made them narrations. So away with a people who do not believe. 44 Then We sent Moses and his brother Aaron with Our Signs and a clear authority 45 to Pharaoh and to his chiefs, but they behaved superciliously and they were haughty. 46 So they said: shall we believe in two human beings like unto us, while their nation are to us slaves? 47 So they denied them and were of those destroyed. 48 And We gave Moses the Book that people might be guided by it. 49 We made the son of Mary and his mother a miracle and settled them on a high land, quite secure and watered by a spring. 50
