Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
Has the story reached thee of the overwhelming (Event)? 1 Some faces, that Day, will be humiliated (in the Hell-fire, i.e. the faces of all disbelievers, Jews and Christians, etc.). 2 toiling [under burdens of sin,] worn out [by fear,] 3 roasting at a scorching Fire 4 and will be made to drink from a fiercely boiling spring. 5 No food will there be for them but a bitter Dhari' 6 Which neither give strength nor satisfy the hunger. 7 However, on that day the faces of other people will be happy. 8 with their striving well-pleased, 9 In a high Garden 10 Where they shall hear no (word) of vanity: 11 Within it is a flowing spring. 12 raised couches, 13 well arranged goblets, 14 and arranged cushions 15 And silken carpets spread. 16 Look they not at the camels, how they are created? 17 And at the Sky, how it is raised high?- 18 how the mountains are set firm, 19 And at the earth, how it is spread out? 20 So, [O Prophet] exhort them: your task is only to exhort, 21 Thou art not at all a warder over them. 22 But whoso is averse and disbelieveth, 23 Then Allah will punish him with the greatest punishment. 24 Certainly, it is to Us that they will return. 25 Then indeed, upon Us is their account. 26
