The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ WHEN THE SKY is split asunder, 1 And obeys its Lord and it must. 2 And when the earth is spread out 3 And casts forth what is within it and becomes (clean) empty, 4 obeying its Lord, as it must do! 5 Human being, you strive hard to get closer to your Lord, and so you will certainly receive the recompense (of your deeds). 6 Then, he who is given his Book in his right hand 7 He shall be reckoned with by an easy reckoning, 8 and shall return to his people joyfully. 9 but as for him whose record shall be given to him from behind his back, 10 Will pray for death, 11 And be thrown to scorching fire. 12 They lived among their people joyfully 13 Surely he thought that he would never return. 14 This is a fact. Their Lord is Well-Aware of (all that they do). 15 I swear by the twilight; 16 And by the night and that which it driveth together, 17 and the moon when it is at the full, 18 you shall surely ride stage after stage. 19 What aileth them, then, that they believe not 20 And when the Qur'an is recited to them do not bow in adoration? ۩ 21 No, the unbelievers only belie, 22 Whereas Allah knoweth best that which they cherish. 23 So announce to them a Penalty Grievous, 24 except the righteously striving believers, who will receive a never-ending reward. 25
