The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
Read with the name of your Lord Who created, 1 created the human from a (blood) clot. 2 Read! Your Lord is the Most Generous, 3 who has taught [man] the use of the pen 4 Teacheth man that which he knew not. 5 Nay, but verily man is rebellious 6 As he considers himself independent! 7 Verily, to thy Lord is the return (of all). 8 Have you seen him who forbids 9 A servant when he prays? 10 Bethinkest thou, if he is himself guided, 11 or is concerned with God-consciousness? 12 What thinkest thou? If he cries lies, and turns away - 13 Does he not know that Allah sees everything? 14 And yet indeed if he does not desist We shall drag him by the forelock, 15 his lying, sinful forelock. 16 Then, let him call (for help) to his council (of comrades): 17 We will now call the guards! 18 Nay, heed him not: But bow down in adoration, and bring thyself the closer (to Allah)! ۩ 19
True are the words of God the Almighty.
