He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ The Prophet frowned and turned away 1 from a blind man who had come up to him. 2 And what should teach thee? Perchance he would cleanse him, 3 (He might) remember, and the Reminder might profit him. 4 As for him who is not in want of any thing, 5 to him didst thou give thy whole attention, 6 And you have nothing to lose if he does not become pure. 7 But as to him who came to you running. 8 and in awe [of God] 9 you pay no heed to him. 10 By no means (should it be so)! For it is indeed a Message of instruction: 11 So whoever wills, let him pay attention to it. 12 (It is) in Books held (greatly) in honour, 13 most exalted and purified, 14 [Carried] by the hands of messenger-angels, 15 Honourable and obedient. 16 Be cursed (the disbelieving) man! How ungrateful he is! 17 From what stuff hath He created him? 18 Of a drop of seed. He created him and formed him according to a measure. 19 Then He makes the Path easy for him; 20 Then causeth him to die, and burieth him; 21 and He will resurrect him whenever He wants. 22 By no means he performed not that which He had commanded him. 23 Then let man look at his food, (and how We provide it): 24 That We pour down the water, pouring (it) down in abundance, 25 and let the earth to break open 26 Then We cause therein the grain to grow, 27 And grapes and green fodder 28 And olives and date palms, 29 the densely tree'd gardens, 30 and fruits and pastures 31 (To be) a provision and benefit for you and your cattle. 32 But when the great calamity comes 33 The day on which a man shall fly from his brother, 34 and from his mother and father, 35 And his wife and his sons; 36 on that Day every man among them will have enough concern of his own -- 37 Faces on that Day shall be beaming, 38 Laughing, joyous. 39 but others will be gloomy 40 Blackness will cover them: 41 these, these will be the ones who denied the truth and were immersed in iniquity! 42
Allah the Almighty always says the truth.
End of Surah: He Frowned ('Abasa). Sent down in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
