Whatever misfortune befalls you is a consequence of your own deeds. But much of it He forgives. 30 Ye cannot escape in the earth, for beside Allah ye have no protecting friend nor any helper. 31 And of His signs are the ships in the sea, like mountains. 32 and if He wills, He stills the wind, and they remain motionless on its back. Surely in that are signs for every man enduring, thankful. 33 Or, He wrecks them for what they have earned, but He pardons a lot. 34 Let those who dispute Our signs know that there is no way of escape for them. 35 Whatever you have been given is only a temporary provision of this life, but that which is with God is better and more lasting for those who believe and put their trust in their Lord; 36 And those who shun the worst of sins and indecencies and, when they are wroth, forgive, 37 and those who answer their Lord, and perform the prayer, their affair being counsel between them, and they expend of that We have provided them, 38 and who, when insolence visits them, do help themselves -- 39 The retribution of a harmful deed is the harm equal to it; so whoever forgives and makes amends, so his reward is upon Allah; indeed He does not befriend the unjust. 40 There is no blame against him who avenges himself after he has been wronged. 41 The way (of blame) is only against those who oppress men and wrongly rebel in the earth, for such there will be a painful torment. 42 And whoever is patient and forgiving, these most surely are actions due to courage. 43
