Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
52 verses, revealed in Mecca after Kingship (Al-Mulk) before The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ The indubitable event! 1 What is the Inevitable Hour? 2 And what will teach thee what is the Indubitable? 3 Thamood and Ad cried lies to the Clatterer. 4 But the Thamud,- they were destroyed by a terrible Storm of thunder and lightning! 5 And the 'Ad, they were destroyed by a furious Wind, exceedingly violent; 6 violent that He compelled against them seven nights and eight days, uninterruptedly, and thou mightest see the people laid prostrate in it as if they were the stumps of fallen down palm-trees. 7 Then do you see of them any remains? 8 And there came Pharaoh and those before him and the overturned cities with sin. 9 and rebelled against their Lord's Messenger. So He took them with a stern taking. 10 Lo! when the waters rose, We carried you upon the ship 11 so that We might make all this a [lasting] reminder to you all, and that every wide-awake ear might consciously take it in. 12 Then when the Trumpet will be blown with one blowing (the first one), 13 and the earth and the mountains are carried aloft and are crushed to bits at one stroke, 14 Then on that Day, the Resurrection will occur, 15 And the heaven shall cleave asunder, so that on that day it shall be frail, 16 and the angels shall stand upon its borders, and upon that day eight shall carry above them the Throne of thy Lord. 17 On that day you shall be exposed, not one secret of yours concealed. 18 Then as to him who will be vouchsafed his book in his right hand, he shall say: here! read my book! 19 Verily I was sure that I would be handed over my account.” 20 And he will be in a life of Bliss, 21 in a lofty Garden, 22 with fruits within easy reach. 23 (And told:) "Eat and drink to your fill as reward for (good) deeds you had done in days of yore." 24 But as for him whose record shall be placed in his left hand, he will exclaim: "Oh, would that I had never been shown this my record, 25 And knew not what my reckoning! 26 “Alas, if only it had been just death.” 27 Of no use was even my wealth. 28 Gone from me is my authority." 29 (A command will be issued): “Seize him and shackle him, 30 Then cast him to be burnt in Hell; 31 Then fasten him with a chain seventy cubits long: 32 He did not believe in Allah, the Great, 33 “And did not urge to feed the needy.” 34 and so, no friend has here today, 35 Nor any food except from the discharge of wounds; 36 Which none but the hellish eat." 37
