The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
When the sun shall be wound round, 1 When the stars fall, losing their lustre; 2 when the mountains shall be set moving, 3 the young barren camels are abandoned, 4 And when wild animals are herded together. 5 And when the seas are set afire. 6 And when the souls are paired. 7 and when the girl-child that was buried alive is made to ask 8 For what sin she was slain. 9 And when the Writs shall be lain open, 10 And when the heaven shall be stripped, 11 when Hell is set ablaze, 12 when Paradise is brought close: 13 (Then) every soul will know what it had prepared (for itself). 14 I swear by the receding stars, 15 The planets withdrawing into themselves, 16 and sit during the day, or by the darkening night 17 And by oath of the morning when it takes birth. 18 Verily it is a Word brought by a messenger honoured, 19 one mighty and held in honour with the Lord of the Throne; 20 Obeyed (by the angels), trustworthy there (in the heavens). 21 And your companion is not insane. 22 And he has already seen Gabriel in the clear horizon. 23 And he is not avid of the Unseen. 24 The Quran is not the word of condemned satan. 25 When whither go ye? 26 It is naught but a reminder for the nations, 27 for everyone of you who wishes to follow the Straight Way; 28 but will you shall not, unless God wills, the Lord of all Being. 29
