And indeed, [it was for this reason that] Noah cried unto Us - and how excellent was Our response: 75 And We rescued him and his family from the great distress (i.e. drowning), 76 and We made his offspring the only survivors. 77 And We kept his praise among the latter generations. 78 "Peace upon Noah among the worlds." 79 Thus do We reward the righteous ones. 80 Surely he was of Our believing servants. 81 Afterwards We drowned the others. 82 ۞ And most surely Ibrahim followed his way. 83 When he came to his Lord, with a sound heart. (Free from falsehood). 84 When he said unto his father and his folk: What is it that ye worship? 85 Do you want to worship false idols as your lords besides God? 86 What do you think of the Lord of the whole Universe?” 87 Then he looked up at the stars (they worshipped), 88 and said: 'Surely, I am sick (of what you worship)' 89 and at that they turned their backs on him and went away. 90 Then he turned aside to their gods secretly and said: What! do you not eat? 91 What is the matter with you that you do not speak? 92 Then he turned upon them, striking (them) with (his) right hand. 93 Then came the others to him hastening. 94 He said, 'Do you serve what you hew, 95 "But Allah has created you and your handwork!" 96 They said, "Construct for him a furnace and throw him into the burning fire." 97 Their desire was to outwit him, but We made them to be the humiliated. 98 He said, 'I am going to my Lord; He will guide me. 99 “My Lord! Give me a meritorious child.” 100 So We gave him the glad tidings of a forbearing boy. 101 Then, when (the son) reached (the age of) (serious) work with him, he said: "O my son! I see in vision that I offer thee in sacrifice: Now see what is thy view!" (The son) said: "O my father! Do as thou art commanded: thou will find me, if Allah so wills one practising Patience and Constancy!" 102 So when they had both submitted their wills (to Allah), and he had laid him prostrate on his forehead (for sacrifice), 103 We called unto him: O Abraham! 104 you have fulfilled the dream." It is thus indeed that We reward those who do good, 105 for, behold, all this was indeed a trial, clear in itself. 106 And We rescued him in exchange of a great sacrifice. (The sacrifice of Ibrahim and Ismail – peace be upon them – is commemorated every year on 10, 11 and 12 Zil Haj). 107 and left for him among the later folk 108 Peace be upon Ibrahim! 109 Thus indeed do We reward those who do right. 110 He was one of Our believing worshipers. 111 And We gave him the good news of Isaac, a Prophet and among the righteous ones. 112 And We sent blessings upon him and Ishaq; and among their descendants – some who do good deeds, and some who clearly wrong themselves. 113
