The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
Read (Prophet Muhammad) in the Name of your Lord who created, 1 He created man from a clot of blood. 2 Read - for thy Sustainer is the Most Bountiful One 3 Who taught (to write) with the pen 4 He taught the human being what he did not know. 5 No! [But] indeed, man transgresses 6 because he thinks himself self-sufficient: 7 Surely your returning is to your Lord. 8 Have you seen the one who prohibits 9 a worshiper when he prays. 10 Have you seen if he is upon guidance 11 and enjoins piety? 12 What do you think? Have you seen if he belies and turns away, 13 does he not know that Allah sees? 14 No indeed; if he does not desist, We shall drag him by the forelock; 15 by the lying forelock steeped in sin. 16 So let him call his associates, 17 We shall call the guards of Hell. 18 No! Do not obey him. But prostrate and draw near [to Allah]. ۩ 19
