The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ When the heaven is split asunder, 1 And obeys its Lord and it must. 2 and when the earth is leveled, 3 And casts forth what is in it and becomes empty, 4 obeying its Sustainer, as in truth it must: 5 O mankind, indeed you are laboring toward your Lord with [great] exertion and will meet it. 6 Then as for him who is given his book in his right hand, 7 shall have an easy reckoning 8 And he shall go back to his people joyful. 9 And as to him who is given his book behind his back, 10 He shall call for perdition, 11 And he will enter a Blazing Fire. 12 He once lived among his family joyfully; 13 Surely he thought that he would never return. 14 Nay, nay! for his Lord was (ever) watchful of him! 15 So I do call to witness the ruddy glow of Sunset; 16 And the night and that which it drives on, 17 And by the moon when it is at the full, 18 That you will climb from stage to stage. 19 What is wrong with them that they do not believe? 20 and when the Koran is recited to them that they do not prostrate! ۩ 21 Nay, but those who disbelieve will deny; 22 and Allah knows very well what they gather. 23 Therefore give to them glad tidings of a painful punishment, 24 Except to those who believe and work righteous deeds: For them is a Reward that will never fail. 25
