So when the apostles came to Lut's followers, 61 He said: "Ye appear to be uncommon folk." 62 They said: "Nay, we have come to you with that (torment) which they have been doubting. 63 “And we have brought to you a true command, and indeed we are truthful.” 64 Therefore go forth with your followers in a part of the night and yourself follow their rear, and let not any one of you turn round, and go forth whither you are commanded. 65 And We informed him the decision of this command, that at morning the root of the disbelievers would be cut off. 66 The inhabitants of the city came in (mad) joy (at news of the young men). 67 rushed towards the house of Lot. Lot said to them, "These are my guests. Do not disgrace me. 68 And guard against (the punishment of) Allah and do not put me to shame. 69 They said, "Did we not forbid you to extend hospitality to strangers?" 70 He said, "Here are my daughters, if you must act in this way." 71 By thy life (O Muhammad) they moved blindly in the frenzy of approaching death. 72 At sunrise a dreadful Shout seized them. 73 and turned the land upside down, and rained down stones of baked clay. 74 Herein are really signs for those who discern. 75 And the (cities were) right on the high-road. 76 surely in this there is a sign for those who believe. 77 And the dwellers in the wood indeed were evil-doers. 78 We therefore took revenge from them; and indeed both these townships are situated on an open road. 79
