Vanity (Al-Zukhruf)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Ha'. Mim. 1 By this luminous Book. 2 Lo! We have appointed it a Lecture, in Arabic that haply ye may understand. 3 And the Qur’an is undoubtedly, in the Original Book with Us, surely the exalted, full of wisdom. 4 What! shall We then turn away the reminder from you altogether because you are an extravagant people? 5 How many a prophet did We send among the men of old! 6 but whenever a prophet came to them, they mocked him, 7 We therefore destroyed the people who were more forceful than these, and the example of the earlier ones has already gone by. 8 (Muhammad), if you ask them, "Who has created the heavens and the earth?" They will certainly say, "The Majestic and All-knowing God has created them". 9 He it is who has made the earth a cradle for you, and has provided for you ways [of livelihood] thereon, so that you might follow the right path. 10 and who sent down out of heaven water in measure; and We revived thereby a land that was dead; even so you shall be brought forth; 11 And the One Who created all pairs, and made the ships and cattle as rides for you. 12 That you may settle yourselves upon their backs and then remember the favor of your Lord when you have settled upon them and say. "Exalted is He who has subjected this to us, and we could not have [otherwise] subdued it. 13 Surely we have to go back to our Lord." 14 The pagans have considered some of His servants as His children. There is no doubt that the human being is simply ungrateful. 15
