Nay! By the moon 32 And [by] the night when it departs 33 By the morning when it brighteneth. 34 This is but one of the mighty (portents), 35 A warning for people -- 36 to everyone of you, whether he chooses to come forward or to hang back! 37 Each soul is held in pledge for what it earns, 38 save the Companions of the Right; 39 (They will be) in Gardens (of Delight): they will question each other, 40 And (ask) of the Sinners: 41 "What was it that brought you to Hell?" 42 They will reply: 'We were not among those who prayed 43 And we have not been feeding the poor. 44 "But we used to talk vanities with vain talkers; 45 And we used to deny the Day of Judgment, 46 Until the certainty (of death) had come upon us. 47 And so, of no benefit to them could be the intercession of any that would intercede for them. 48 If such will be the Day of Judgment, what is the matter with them? Why do they run away from guidance, 49 As if they were asses taking fright 50 Fleeing away from a lion. 51 Yea, everyone of them claims that he [himself] ought to have been given revelations unfolded! 52 By no means! Aye, they fear not the Hereafter. 53 Yes indeed, this is an advice. 54 so whoever wills shall remember it. 55 they will only take heed if God so wills: He is the Lord who is worthy to be feared: the Lord of forgiveness. 56
