Al-Taareq
The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
By the heaven, and At-Tariq (the night-comer, i.e. the bright star); 1 Do you know what al-tariq is? 2 It is the star shining brightly. 3 That over each soul there is a guardian. 4 So let man look - from what is he created. 5 He was created of a gushing fluid, 6 That is issued from between the backs and the ribs. 7 Surely (Allah) is able to bring him back (to life)! 8 The Day that (all) things secret will be tested, 9 He will have no strength or helper. 10 By the heaven with its recurring cycle of rain, 11 by the earth cracking open with new growth. 12 Lo! this (Qur'an) is a conclusive word, 13 And no trifle. 14 They are hatching up a plot, 15 And I secretly plan. 16 So bear with unbelievers with patience, and give them respite for a while. 17
God Almighty has spoken the truth.
