The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ What are they questioning each other about? 1 (It is) of the awful tidings, 2 on which they [so utterly] disagree. 3 By no means! anon they shall know. 4 Nay, again, but they will come to know! 5 Have We not made the earth an expanse. 6 And the mountains as stakes? 7 And We have created you in pairs (male and female, tall and short, good and bad, etc.). 8 and gave you repose in sleep, 9 and We made the night a mantle, 10 And We made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And We have built above you seven firmaments, 12 And placed (therein) a Light of Splendour? 13 and sent down heavy rains from the clouds 14 So that We bring forth thereby corn and vegetation. 15 and gardens dense with follage. 16 Indeed, the Day of Decision is an appointed time, 17 the Day when the trumpet [of resurrection] is sounded and you all come forward in multitudes; 18 And the heaven will have been opened, and it will have become doors. 19 And the mountains will have been removed away, and they will have become as mirage. 20 Behold, Gehenna has become an ambush, 21 The rebels' abode, 22 They will dwell therein for ages. 23 They will neither taste anything cool in it, nor anything to drink. 24 Except boiling water, and dirty wound discharges. 25 as a fitting recompense for their deeds. 26 For that they used not to fear any account (for their deeds), 27 and they absolutely belied Our verses, 28 but We have placed on record every single thing [of what they did]. 29 "So taste ye (the fruits of your deeds); for no increase shall We grant you, except in Punishment." 30
