In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
O you who are wrapped up in your mantle, 1 Stay up the night long save a little 2 A half thereof, or abate a little thereof 3 Or increase thereto. And intone the Qur'an with measured intonations. 4 Surely We will make to light upon you a weighty Word. 5 surely the first part of the night is heavier in tread, more upright in speech, 6 True, there is for thee by day prolonged occupation with ordinary duties: 7 Remember the name of your Lord, and devote yourself to Him wholeheartedly. 8 Lord of the East and Lord of the West – there is no God except Him, therefore make Him your sole Trustee of affairs. 9 Bear patiently with what they say, and ignore them politely. 10 And leave Me with [the matter of] the deniers, those of ease [in life], and allow them respite a little. 11 We have in store for them heavy fetters and a blazing Fire, 12 And a Food that chokes, and a Penalty Grievous. 13 On the Day when the earth and the mountains will be in violent shake, and the mountains will be a heap of sand poured out and flowing down. 14 We have sent you a Messenger, who will witness your deeds, just as We sent a Messenger to the Pharaoh. 15 But Pharaoh disobeyed the messenger; so We seized him with a heavy Punishment. 16 So how will you save yourselves, if you disbelieve, on a day that will turn children old? 17 And the heaven shall be split therein. His promise indeed must be fulfilled. 18 Verily this is an admonition; let him therefore, who will, choose a way unto his Lord. 19
