The notables among his people who had refused to believe and who denied the meeting of the Hereafter, and those whom We had endowed with ease and comfort in this life, cried out: "This is no other than a mortal like yourselves who eats what you eat and drinks what you drink. 33 If ye were to obey a mortal like yourselves, then, lo! ye surely would be losers. 34 Doth he promise you that you, when ye are dead and have become dust and bones, will (again) be brought forth? 35 ۞ Begone, begone, with that which ye are promised! 36 There is no other life than the life of the world. We shall live here and here shall we die; and we are not going to be raised again. 37 He is naught but a man who has forged a lie against Allah, and we are not going to believe in him. 38 (The prophet) said: "O my Lord! help me: for that they accuse me of falsehood." 39 He answered: "A short while, and they shall be repenting." 40 So the punishment overtook them in justice, and We made them as rubbish; so away with the unjust people. 41 Then We produced after them other generations. 42 [for,] no community can ever forestall [the end of] its term - and neither can they delay [its coming]. 43 Then We sent Our Messengers in succession, every time there came to a nation their Messenger, they denied him, so We made them follow one another (to destruction), and We made them as Ahadith (the true stories for mankind to learn a lesson from them). So away with a people who believe not. 44 Thereafter We sent Musa and his brother Harun with Our signs and an authority manifest. 45 To Pharaoh and his establishment, but they were arrogant and were a haughty people. 46 And they said: Shall we put faith in two mortals like ourselves, and whose folk are servile unto us? 47 So they accused them of falsehood, and they became of those who were destroyed. 48 And indeed We gave Moosa the Book, that they may attain guidance. 49 And [as We exalted Moses, so, too,] We made the son of Mary and his mother a symbol [of Our grace,] and provided for both an abode in a lofty place of lasting restfulness and unsullied springs. 50
