The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ What are they questioning each other about? 1 Of the mighty tiding 2 About which they differ? 3 No! They are going to know. 4 Surely, they will soon find out the truth! 5 HAVE WE NOT made the earth a resting-place [for you,] 6 And the mountains as pegs? 7 And We have created you in pairs; 8 And made your sleep [a means for] rest 9 The night a covering, 10 And have appointed the day for livelihood. 11 And We have built above you seven strong ones, 12 and placed in them a blazing lamp 13 And then sent down hard rain from the water bearing clouds. 14 That We may produce therewith corn and vegetables, 15 And gardens thick with trees. 16 Indeed, the Day of Decision is an appointed time, 17 On that day the trumpet will be sounded and you will come (to Us) in huge groups. 18 and when the skies are opened and become [as wide-flung] gates; 19 The mountains will be driven away and become like mirages. 20 Surely hell lies in wait, 21 for the insolent a resort, 22 In which they will remain for ages [unending]. 23 they shall taste in it no coolness, nor any pleasant drink 24 save boiling water and a stinking fluid -- 25 A fitting recompense (for them). 26 Verily they were wont not to look for a reckoning. 27 And called Our communications a lie, giving the lie (to the truth). 28 but We have recorded everything in a Book. 29 So taste (the fruit of your deeds). We shall only increase your torment. 30
