And this Qur'an is a revelation from the Lord of all the worlds, 192 The honest Spirit (Gabriel) brought it down 193 to your heart that you might become one of those who warn (others on behalf of Allah), 194 In plain Arabic language. 195 And lo! it is in the Scriptures of the men of old. 196 And has it not been a sign to them that it is recognized by the scholars of the Children of Israel? 197 Had We revealed it to any one of the non-Arabs, 198 And he had read it unto them, even then they would not have been believers therein. 199 This is how We have made the habit of denying embedded in the hearts of the guilty. 200 They will not believe in it until they see the painful punishment. 201 so that it will come upon them suddenly, while they are not aware, 202 and then they will say: 'Shall we be respited' 203 Do they want to hasten Our torment? 204 Tell Me, if We do let them enjoy for years, 205 and then the promised punishment fell upon them, 206 They would not be availed by the enjoyment with which they were provided. 207 And We did not destroy any city except that it had warners 208 to admonish them. We have never been unjust. 209 No evil ones have brought down this (Revelation): 210 for, neither does it suit their ends, nor is it in their power [to impart it to man]: 211 Verily far from hearing are they removed. 212 So call not thou unto another god along with Allah, lest thou be of the doomed. 213 And admonish thy nearest kinsmen, 214 and lower your wing to the believers who follow you. 215 And if they (thy kinsfolk) disobey thee, say: Lo! I am innocent of what they do. 216 Put your trust in the Almighty, the Most Merciful, 217 Who watches you when you stand up. 218 and [sees] thy behaviour among those who prostrate themselves [before Him]: 219 He is All-hearing and All-knowing." 220 Shall I inform you upon whom do the devils descend? 221 They come down to every mendacious sinner, 222 Who give ear, and most of them are liars. 223 And as for the poets [they, too, are prone to deceive themselves: and so, only] those who are lost in grievous error would follow them. 224 Did you not see that they keep wandering in every valley? 225 and preaching what they themselves never practice. 226 Except those who believed and did good deeds, and profusely remembered Allah, and took revenge after they had been wronged; and soon the unjust will come to know upon which side they will be overturned. 227
