Stories (Al-Qasas)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
Ta. Sin. Mim. 1 These are Verses of the manifest Book (that makes clear truth from falsehood, good from evil, etc.). 2 We recite unto thee of the story of Musa and Fir'awn with truth for a people who believe. 3 Indeed, Pharaoh exalted himself in the land and made its people into factions, oppressing a sector among them, slaughtering their [newborn] sons and keeping their females alive. Indeed, he was of the corrupters. 4 And We desired to show favour unto those who were oppressed in the earth, and to make them examples and to make them the inheritors, 5 give them power in the land and make the Pharaoh, Haman (his Minister), and their armies to experience from their victims what they feared most. 6 So We conveyed to the mother of Moses: "Suckle him. If you are afraid for him, cast him in the river without any fear or regret, for We shall restore him to you, and make him an apostle." 7 So then the folk of Pharaoh picked him out to be an enemy and a sorrow to them; certainly Pharaoh and Haman, and their hosts, were of the sinners. 8 and Pharaoh's wife said, "He will be a joy to the eye for me and you! Do not slay him: he may well be of use to us, or we may adopt him as a son." They did not realize what they were doing. 9 In the morning the heart of Moses' mother became empty. She would have revealed (who he was) had We not settled her heart so that she might be among the believers. 10 She said to Moses' sister, "Go, and follow him." So she watched him from a distance, like a stranger, without anyone noticing her. 11 ۞ We had forbidden to him before that he should be suckled by foster mothers, therefore she (Moses' sister) said (to them): 'Shall I direct you to a people of a household who will take charge of him for you and advise him' 12 So, We restored him to his mother, so that she might be comforted and not sorrow, and that she might know that the promise of Allah is true. Yet most of them do not know. 13
