Muhammad (Muhammad)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
God will bring to naught all the good deeds of those who are bent on denying the truth and bar [others] from the path of God. 1 And those who accepted faith and did good deeds and believed in what has been sent down upon Mohammed (peace and blessings be upon him) – and that is the truth from their Lord – Allah has relieved them of some of their evils and refined their condition. 2 This, because they who are bent on denying the truth pursue falsehood, whereas they who have attained to faith pursue [but] the truth [that flows] from their Sustainer. In this way does God set forth unto man the parables of their true state. 3 Now when ye meet those who disbelieve, smite their necks until when ye have slain them greatly, then make fast the bonds; then, thereafter let them off either freely or by ransom, until the war layeth down the burthens thereof. That ye shall do. And had Allah willed, He would have vindicated Himself against them, but He ordained fighting in order that He may prove you one by the other. And those who are slain in the way of Allah, He shall not send their works astray. 4 He will soon guide them (towards Paradise) and make them succeed. 5 and will admit them to Paradise with which He has acquainted them. 6 O People who Believe! If you help the religion of Allah, He will help you and will stabilise you. 7 And those who disbelieve, perdition is for them, and He will make their actions vain. 8 That is because they hated what Allah has sent down, so He annulled their deeds. 9 ۞ Have they not travelled the earth and seen how those before them met their end? God destroyed them utterly: a similar fate awaits those who deny the truth. 10 That is because God is the Protector of the believers, and that the unbelievers have no protector. 11
