Have you heard the story of Abraham's honored guests? 24 When they came to him they said, "Peace!" He answered, "Peace!" [saying to himself]. "They are strangers." 25 Then he went apart unto his housefolk so that they brought a fatted calf; 26 He set it before them, saying: 'Will you not eat' 27 And he felt from them apprehension. They said, "Fear not," and gave him good tidings of a learned boy. 28 Then his wife came forward, making moan, and smote her face, and cried: A barren old woman! 29 They said: “So has your Lord said (that you shall have a boy). Surely He is Most Wise, All-Knowing.” 30 ۞ Abraham said: “Envoys (of Allah), what is your errand?” 31 They replied: “Behold, we have been sent to a wicked people 32 that we may unleash a shower of clay-stones 33 "Marked as from thy Lord for those who trespass beyond bounds." 34 So We removed the people who had faith, from that town. 35 But did not find more than a single family of believers. 36 We left a sign in this for those who fear the grievous punishment, 37 And in Musa (Moses) (too, there is a sign). When We sent him to Fir'aun (Pharaoh) with a manifest authority. 38 But Pharaoh turned away, showing arrogance on account of his power, and said (about Moses): “He is either a sorcerer or a madman.” 39 We seized him and his army and threw them into the sea. He himself was to be blamed. 40 And [you have the same message] in [what happened to the tribe of] Ad, when We let loose against them that life-destroying wind 41 It spared nothing that it reached, but blew it into broken spreads of rotten ruins. 42 In the Thamud [there was another sign], when they were told, "Make the most of your lives for a while." 43 But they insolently defied the Command of their Lord: So the stunning noise (of an earthquake) seized them, even while they were looking on. 44 they could neither stand up straight, nor were they helped. 45 And the people of Nuh We destroyed aforetime; verily they were a people transgressing. 46
