Didst thou (O Muhammad) observe him who turned away, 33 And gave a little, then was grudging? 34 Does he have knowledge of the hidden, so he can foresee? 35 Or has he never yet been told of what was [said] in the revelations of Moses, 36 and of Abraham, who lived up to the trust? 37 That no bearer of burden shall bear the burden of another- 38 And that man can have nothing but what he does (good or bad). 39 and that in time [the nature of] all his striving will be shown [to him in its true light,] 40 Then he will be recompensed for it with the fullest recompense 41 and that with thy Sustainer is the beginning and the end [of all that exists]; 42 That it is He Who granteth Laughter and Tears; 43 And that it is He Who gave death and gave life? 44 and that it is He who created pairs, the male and the female, 45 from a drop of sperm when it was emitted, 46 and that [therefore] it is within His power to bring about a second life; 47 That it is He Who giveth wealth and satisfaction; 48 It is He who is the Lord of Sirius. 49 And that it is He Who destroyed the (powerful) ancient 'Ad (people), 50 And that Thamud! He left not. 51 And the people of Nuh before; surely they were most unjust and inordinate; 52 And the overthrown cities did He overthrow, 53 And covered them by that which He covered. 54 How many favours of your Lord will you then deny? 55 This [Prophet] is a warner like the former warners. 56 The Imminent is imminent; 57 No (soul) but Allah can lay it bare. 58 At this discourse then marvel ye? 59 Will you laugh at it rather than weep? 60 while you make merry? 61 Rather prostrate yourselves before Allah and serve Him. ۩ 62
