The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
19 verses, revealed in Mecca. First revelation of the Quran before The Pen (Al-Qalam)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
(Muhammad), read in the name of your Lord who created (all things). 1 Has created man from a clot (a piece of thick coagulated blood). 2 Read! Your Lord is the Most Generous, 3 who, by the pen, taught the human being: 4 Taught man that which he knew not. 5 By no means: Verily man exorbitateth. 6 For he thinks he is sufficient in himself. 7 for, behold, unto thy Sustainer all must return. 8 Have you seen the one who forbids 9 a servant [of God] from praying? 10 Do you think he is rightly guided, 11 Or enjoineth piety? 12 What thinkest thou? If he cries lies, and turns away - 13 Does he not know that God observes all things? 14 By no means! If he desist not We shall seize and deal him by the forelock 15 a lying, sinful forelock. 16 So, let him call upon his way! 17 We shall call the guards of Hell. 18 Nay! obey him not, and make obeisance and draw nigh (to Allah). ۩ 19
God the Almighty always says the truth.
