The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ When the sky has split [open] 1 And attentive to her Lord in fear, 2 And when the earth is stretched forth, 3 And hath cast out all that was in her, and is empty 4 obeying its Sustainer, as in truth it must: 5 O man! surely you must strive (to attain) to your Lord, a hard striving until you meet Him. 6 Then as to him who is given his book in his right hand, 7 shall be called to an easy accounting, 8 And he will return to his family rejoicing. 9 But as for he who is given his record behind his back, 10 shall call for destruction 11 And enter into burning fire. 12 He once lived among his family joyfully; 13 Verily, he thought that he would never come back (to Us)! 14 But no; (how would he not revert)? His Lord was ever watching him. 15 Nay; I swear by the twilight; 16 The Night and its Homing; 17 and the moon when it is at the full, 18 That ye shall journey on from plane to plane. 19 So, wherefore do they not believe? 20 and when the Koran is recited to them that they do not prostrate! ۩ 21 Nay, but they who are bent on denying the truth give the lie [to this divine writ]! 22 And Allah knows best what they hide, 23 Therefore give them the glad tidings of a painful punishment. 24 Except to those who believe and work righteous deeds: For them is a Reward that will never fail. 25
