The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
O you (Muhammad SAW) enveloped (in garments)! 1 arise, and warn! 2 and magnify the glory of your Lord, 3 and purify your robes, 4 And uncleanliness avoid 5 And do not favour others in order to receive more. 6 but unto thy Sustainer turn in patience. 7 For when the Trump is sounded 8 that very Day shall be a day of anguish, 9 and it will not be easy for the unbelievers. 10 Leave Me Alone (to deal) with whom I created Alone (without any means, i.e. Al-Walid bin Al-Mughirah Al-Makhzumi)! 11 And then granted him resources in abundance. 12 and sons to be by his side, 13 and made all things smooth for him; 14 yet he is eager that I increase him. 15 Never will he receive more. He has been hostile to Our revelations. 16 I shall soon constrain him to a hard ascent. 17 For he thought and he plotted -- 18 and thus he destroys himself, the way he meditates: 19 Again, ruin seize him, how did he hatch a scheme? 20 Then he looked around, 21 Then frowned he and showed displeasure. 22 Then he turned back and was proud; 23 Then he said: This is naught but enchantment, narrated (from others); 24 This is nothing but the word of a mortal!" 25 I shall make him suffer the torment of hell. 26 And what will make you realize what hell is? 27 It leaveth naught; it spareth naught 28 scorching the flesh; 29 Over it are nineteen [angels]. 30 We have not appointed the guards of hell, except angels; and did not keep this number except to test the disbelievers – in order that the People given the Book(s) may be convinced, and to increase the faith of the believers – and so that the People given the Book(s) and the Muslims may not have any doubt – and so that those in whose hearts is a disease and the disbelievers, may say, “What does Allah mean by this amazing example?” This is how Allah sends astray whomever He wills, and guides whomever He wills; and no one knows the armies of Allah except Him; and this is not but an advice to man. 31
