The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
By the angels who violently tear-out the souls of the disbelievers from their bodies, 1 By the meteors rushing, 2 By the angels who glide swimmingly, 3 And by those that press forward as in a race (i.e. the angels or stars or the horses, etc.). 4 And by those angels who arrange to do the Commands of their Lord, (so verily, you disbelievers will be called to account). 5 On the day when the trembling one will tremble. (The disbelievers will certainly taste the punishment.) 6 Followed by oft-repeated (commotions): 7 hearts will be throbbing, 8 Eyes be lowered in submission. 9 They say: “Shall we indeed be restored to life, 10 What! when we are rotten bones? 11 They said: That then would be a return occasioning loss. 12 However, it will only take a single blast 13 to bring them out of their graves and back to life on the earth's surface. 14 Has the story of Moses come to you 15 Lo! His Sustainer called out to him in the twice-hallowed valley: 16 saying, "Go to the Pharaoh. He has transgressed beyond all bounds. 17 And say, "Hast thou the will to purify thyself; 18 that I may direct you to your Lord and then you hold Him in awe?'” 19 Then did (Moses) show him the Great Sign. 20 But (Pharaoh) rejected it and disobeyed (guidance); 21 Then he turned away in a hurry, 22 And assembled (his council) and proclaimed, 23 And proclaimed: "I (Pharaoh) am your Lord the Highest." 24 So Allah seized him with the punishment of the hereafter and the former life. 25 In this, behold, there is a lesson indeed for all who stand in awe [of God]. 26
