۞ When the heaven bursts asunder, 1 hearing and obeying its Lord, as it must do; 2 And when the earth is stretched forth, 3 And it unburdens itself of all that is in it, and becomes empty. 4 And obeys its Lord and it must. 5 O mankind, indeed you are laboring toward your Lord with [great] exertion and will meet it. 6 And he who is given his ledger in his right hand 7 shall be called to an easy accounting, 8 and will return rejoicing to his family. 9 But as for him whose record shall be given to him behind his back; 10 Soon he will pray for death. 11 and roast at the Blaze. 12 Once, he lived joyfully among his family 13 and surely thought he would never return (to his Lord). 14 Surely yes, why not? Indeed his Lord is seeing him. 15 I swear by the afterglow of sunset, 16 And by oath of the night and all that gathers in it. 17 and the moon when it is at the full, 18 you shall proceed onwards from stage to stage. 19 What is wrong with them that they do not believe? 20 Why, when the Quran is recited to them, do they not prostrate themselves? ۩ 21 Instead, the unbelievers reject it, calling it a lie. 22 God is quite aware of what they are storing in their hearts. 23 So give them tidings of a painful doom, 24 Except those who believed and did good deeds – for them is a reward that will never end. 25
