The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ When the Event will come to pass 1 There is no belying its coming to pass-- 2 (it will) abase (some) and exalt (others). 3 This will happen when the earth is shaken, shaken 4 and the mountains crumbled 5 and will scatter abroad into fine dust. 6 [on that Day,] then, shall you be [divided into] three kinds. 7 Companions of the Right, what are the Companions of the Right? 8 The people of the left hand - those whose books of records will be placed in their left hands. How miserable they will be! 9 And the foremost are the foremost, 10 those are they brought nigh the Throne, 11 In the gardens of bliss. 12 (a throng of the ancients 13 And a few from among the latter. 14 They (will be seated) on gold-encrusted couches, 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 There shall go round unto them youths ever-young. 17 With goblets, (shining) beakers, and cups (filled) out of clear-flowing fountains: 18 which will not cause them any intoxication or illness. 19 And fruits that they may like. 20 and any flesh of fowl that they desire. 21 And there will be fair ones large eyed. 22 like hidden pearls, 23 As recompense for all they had done. 24 No empty talk will they hear there, nor any call to sin, 25 All talk will be sound and upright. 26 The companions of the right - what are the companions of the right? 27 They will live amid the thornless lot trees 28 And [banana] trees layered [with fruit] 29 and amid the extended shade 30 And in perpetually flowing water. 31 And plenty of fruits. 32 never-ending and unforbidden. 33 They shall be on upraised couches, 34 Indeed We formed them (the houris and all believing women), 35 And made them virgins, 36 chaste, loving companions of the same age 37 For the fellows on the right hand. 38
