The Night (Al-Layl)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By oath of the night when it covers 1 and by the day when it breaks in its glory, 2 And by oath of the One Who created the male and the female. 3 surely your striving is to diverse ends. 4 Then as for him who gives away and guards (against evil), 5 and confirms the reward most fair, 6 We will ease him toward ease. 7 But as for him who is niggardly, and thinks that he is self-sufficient, 8 and rejects what is right, 9 Surely We will ease his way unto adversity. 10 And his wealth will not avail him when he perishes. 11 Lo! Ours it is (to give) the guidance 12 And to Us belong the End and the Beginning. 13 I therefore warn you of the fire that is ablaze. 14 where none shall burn except the most wicked, 15 Who had denied and turned away. 16 But the righteous one will avoid it - 17 Who gives away his wealth, purifying himself 18 And not [giving] for anyone who has [done him] a favor to be rewarded 19 except the pleasure of their Lord, the Most High 20 And he shall soon be well-pleased. 21
