When the Messengers came to the family of Lot, 61 He said: "You are people I do not know." 62 They said: Nay, but we bring thee that concerning which they keep disputing, 63 We have come to you for a genuine purpose and We are true in what we say. 64 "Then travel by night with thy household, when a portion of the night (yet remains), and do thou bring up the rear: let no one amongst you look back, but pass on whither ye are ordered." 65 We communicated to him Our decree that the guilty ones would be destroyed by the morning. 66 The people of the city came to him rejoicing. 67 and he told them, "These are my guests, so do not disgrace me. 68 And fear Allah, and humiliate me not. 69 They replied, "Did we not forbid you to bring anyone to your house?" 70 [Lout (Lot)] said: "These (the girls of the nation) are my daughters (to marry lawfully), if you must act (so)." 71 By thy life, in their intoxication they were wandering bewildered. 72 So the rumbling overtook them (while) entering upon the time of sunrise; 73 We laid it (the city) upside down and rained stones of baked clay upon them. 74 Behold! in this are Signs for those who by tokens do understand. 75 And the (cities were) right on the high-road. 76 Verily in that is a sign for the believers. 77 And the dwellers of the thicket also were most surely unjust. 78 So We took vengeance on them. Both are still there on the highway, plain for all to see. 79
