Tell them the story of Abraham, 69 When he said unto his father and his people: what worship ye? 70 They said: we worship idols, and we are unto them ever devoted 71 He said, “Do they hear you when you call?” 72 Or, benefit they you or hurt they you? 73 They said, "But we found our fathers doing thus." 74 He said: "Do ye then see whom ye have been worshipping,- 75 you and those ancient forebears of yours? 76 Verily they are an enemy unto me, save the Lord of the worlds. 77 "Who has created me, and it is He Who guides me; 78 He Who feedeth me and giveth me to drink. 79 and when I fall ill, is the One who restores me to health, 80 "And Who will cause me to die, and then will bring me to life (again); 81 and whom I am eager shall forgive me my sins on the Day of Recompense' 82 My Lord, bestow wisdom upon me; unite me with the righteous; 83 And grant me an honourable mention in later generations; 84 and place me amongst the inheritors of the Garden of Bliss. 85 and forgive my father, for he was among the astray. 86 And abase me not on the day when they are raised, 87 “The day when neither wealth will benefit nor will sons.” 88 But to him who comes to God with a tranquil heart." 89 And Paradise shall be brought forward for the godfearing, 90 and hell will be left open for the rebellious ones 91 And it will be said to them, “Where are those whom you used to worship?” 92 “Instead of Allah? Will they help you or retaliate?” 93 "Then they will be thrown headlong into the (Fire),- they and those straying in Evil, 94 and so too the hosts of Iblis, all of them. 95 They will say while they dispute therein, 96 "By God, we were most obviously astray 97 When we equated you with the Lord of the worlds. 98 "'And our seducers were only those who were steeped in guilt. 99 Now we have no intercessors, 100 Nor a true friend; 101 Oh, that we had another turn (on earth), that we might be of the believers! 102 Indeed in that is a sign, but most of them were not to be believers. 103 Surely thy Lord, He is the All-mighty, the All-compassionate. 104
