Al-Taareq
The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the sky, and by the nightly comer! 1 And what will explain to thee what the Night-Visitant is?- 2 It is the shining star -- 3 There is no soul which is not guarded (by the two angels who record all of its deeds). 4 So man must consider from what he has been created. 5 He was created from a fluid, ejected, 6 Proceeding from between the back-bone and the ribs, 7 Verily He is Able to restore him, 8 The day all secrets are examined 9 and [man] will have neither strength nor helper! 10 So I call to witness the rain-producing sky, 11 And by the Earth which opens out (for the gushing of springs or the sprouting of vegetation),- 12 this (Qur'an) is surely a decisive Word, 13 And it is not a frivolity. 14 Verily, they are but plotting a plot (against you O Muhammad (Peace be upon him)). 15 But I too am devising a plan. 16 So grant the unbelievers a respite: let them alone for a while. 17
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
