The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ When the great event comes to pass, 1 There is no denying that it will befall - 2 (Many) will it bring low; (many) will it exalt; 3 When the earth is violently shaken 4 And the mountains shall be made to crumble with (an awful) crumbling, 5 Becoming dust scattered abroad, 6 And you will become divided into three categories. 7 Then (as to) the companions of the right hand; how happy are the companions of the right hand! 8 And the People on the Left: and how miserable will be the People on the Left! 9 The third to the fore shall be the foremost. 10 Those! they shall be the brought nigh, 11 They are in Gardens of peace. 12 Many of them will be from the ancient people 13 And a few from among the latter. 14 [They will be seated] on gold-encrusted thrones of happiness, 15 Reclining on them, facing one another. 16 Surrounded by immortal boys. 17 With goblets and ewers and a cup of pure drink; 18 No after-ache will they receive therefrom, nor will they suffer intoxication: 19 And with fruit from that which they choose. 20 And with flesh of fowls from that which they desire. 21 And wide eyed houris 22 Like pearls within their shells, 23 a recompense for all that they did. 24 They shall not hear therein vain or sinful discourse, 25 but only the tiding of inner soundness and peace. 26 Those on the Right, how fortunate are those on the Right! 27 mid thornless lote-trees 28 and acacias flower-clad, 29 and spreading shade 30 And in perpetually flowing water. 31 And fruit, abundant [and varied], 32 Neither ending nor forbidden. 33 They shall be on upraised couches, 34 We have formed them in a distinctive fashion, 35 and We made them spotless virgins, 36 loving companions, matching in age, 37 with those who have attained to righteousness: 38
