The people of Lot rejected the Messengers. 160 Their brother Lot asked them, "Why do you not have fear of God? 161 I am a trustworthy messenger to you: 162 So fear God and listen to me. 163 And I ask of you no hire therefor; my hire is but with the Lord of the worlds. 164 What, do you come to male beings, 165 And leave what your Lord has created for you of your wives? Nay, you are a people exceeding limits. 166 They said: "If you do not desist, O Lot, you will be expelled (from the city)." 167 He said, "I am one of those who abhors your ways. 168 [And then he prayed:] "O my Sustainer! Save me and my household from all that they are doing!" 169 So We delivered him and his household all. 170 Except an old woman among those who remained behind. 171 We destroyed the others 172 and We sent upon them a rain, an evil rain that fell on those who had been warned. 173 In this there is an evidence of the Truth, but many of them did not have any faith. 174 And verily thy Lord! He is the Mighty, the Merciful. 175
