The people of the Wood too called the messengers liars. 176 Recall, when Shuayb said to them: "Have you no fear? 177 Behold, I am an apostle [sent by Him] to you, [and therefore] worthy of your trust: 178 So fear Allah, and obey me. 179 "And no reward whatever do I ask of you for it: my reward rests with none but the Sustainer of all the worlds. 180 ۞ Give full measure and do not cheat; 181 “And weigh with a proper balance.” 182 and diminish not the goods of the people, and do not mischief in the earth, working corruption. 183 And guard against (the punishment of) Him who created you and the former nations. 184 They said, 'Thou art merely one of those that are bewitched; 185 you are only a mortal like us. Indeed we believe that you are an utter liar. 186 Therefore cause a portion of the heaven to come down upon us, if you are one of the truthful. 187 He said: 'My Lord knows what you are doing' 188 They rejected him and then the torment of the gloomy day struck them. It was certainly a great torment. 189 Indeed in that is a sign, but most of them were not to be believers. 190 And verily thy Lord is He, the Exalted in Might, Most Merciful. 191
