The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ What do they question each other about! 1 About the awesome tiding [of resurrection,] 2 About which they are in disagreement. 3 By no means! anon they shall know. 4 Nay! Nay! they shall soon know. 5 Have We not made the earth as a cradle 6 and the mountains as pegs? 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 and We made your sleep a rest, 9 made the night as a covering, 10 and We made the day for a livelihood. 11 And We have builded over you seven strong heavens. 12 (the sun) as a shining torch 13 From the rain clouds We send waters pouring down in abundance, 14 that We may bring forth with it grain, plants 15 and luxuriant gardens. 16 Verily the Day of Sorting out is a thing appointed, 17 the Day when the Trumpet shall be blown, and you will come forth in multitudes; 18 and heaven is opened, and become gates, 19 and when the mountains are made to vanish as if they had been a mirage. 20 Surely hell lies in wait, 21 For the transgressors a place of destination: 22 They will abide therein for ages, 23 They will neither taste anything cool in it, nor anything to drink. 24 except boiling water and pus, 25 for a suitable recompense. 26 Behold, they were not expecting to be called to account, 27 And rejected Our signs as lies. 28 but We have recorded everything in a Book. 29 So taste (the fruit of your deeds). We shall only increase your torment. 30
