When the Messengers came to the family of Lot, 61 he said to them: 'I do not know you' 62 They said, "No, but we bring you news about what they disputed, 63 "We have brought to thee that which is inevitably due, and assuredly we tell the truth. 64 “Therefore journey with your household while a portion of the night remains, and you tread behind them – and none of you may turn around and see, and proceed directly to the place you are commanded to.” 65 We communicated to him Our decree that the guilty ones would be destroyed by the morning. 66 And the people of the city came rejoicing. (* To the house of Prophet Lut.) 67 He said: Surely these are my guests, therefore do not disgrace me, 68 And guard against (the punishment of) Allah and do not put me to shame. 69 They said: forbade we not thee against the worlds? 70 He said: Here are my daughters, if ye must be doing (so). 71 By your life! In their drunkenness they were truly blind. 72 Then the mighty Blast caught them at sunrise, 73 And We turned (the cities) upside down, and rained down on them brimstones hard as baked clay. 74 Indeed in that are signs for those who discern. 75 Indeed, it is on a way which still exists. 76 Verily there is a Sign in this for the believers. 77 Since the People of the Forest were unjust, 78 So We took retribution from them, and indeed, both [cities] are on a clear highway. 79
