And this (Qur'an) is a revelation from the Lord of all the worlds, 192 The Trustworthy Spirit brought it down. (Angel Jibreel – peace be upon him.) 193 Upon your heart, [O Muhammad] - that you may be of the warners - 194 In plain Arabic speech. 195 Truly, it is in the Books of the ancients. 196 Is it not a Sign to them - (to wit, the Makkans) - that the learned men of the Children of Israel know that? 197 (But such is their adamance) that had We revealed it to one of the non-Arabs and even if he had recited (this clear Arabic discourse) to them 198 So that he should have recited it to them, they would not have believed therein. 199 Thus have We caused it to enter the hearts of the sinners. 200 They will not believe in it until they clearly see the grievous chastisement. 201 It shall come unto them on a sudden, and they shall not perceive. 202 they say: "Can we be granted some respite?" 203 So do they wish to hasten Our punishment? 204 Therefore observe, that if We give them some comforts for some years, – 205 Then there comes to them that with which they are threatened, 206 of what avail would their past enjoyment be to them? 207 And never did We destroy a township, but it had its warners 208 for a reminder, and We never harmed. 209 And it is not the Shayatin (devils) who have brought it (this Quran) down, 210 And it behoves them not, and they have not the power to do (it). 211 Verily, they have been removed far from hearing it. 212 Therefor invoke not with Allah another god, lest thou be one of the doomed. 213 and warn your nearest kinsmen; 214 And be kind to him who follows you of the believers. 215 but if they disobey thee, say: "I am free of responsibility for aught that you may do!" 216 And rely upon the Exalted in Might, the Merciful, 217 Who seeth thee when thou standest up 218 And (seeth) thine abasement among those who fall prostrate (in worship). 219 for, verily, He alone is all-hearing, all-knowing! 220 [And] shall I tell you upon whom it is that those evil spirits descend? 221 They descend on every sinful, false one. 222 They pass on what is heard, and most of them are liars. 223 Only the erring people follow the poets. 224 Seest thou not that they wander distracted in every valley?- 225 and they say what they do not do? 226 Except those who believe and do the right, and remember God a great deal, who retaliate only when they have been wronged. Yet the oppressors will now come to know through what reversals they will be overthrown! 227
