۞ When [Jesus] the son of Mary is held up as an example, your people raise an outcry on this, 57 and say: 'What, are our gods better, or is he?' They do not mention him to you except to dispute, truly, they are a contentious nation. 58 He is purely a bondman (of Ours), whom We have favoured upon, and We made him an extraordinary example for the Descendants of Israel. 59 If We had so willed We could have made some of you into angels to become your successors on earth. 60 And (Jesus) shall be a Sign (for the coming of) the Hour (of Judgment): therefore have no doubt about the (Hour), but follow ye Me: this is a Straight Way. 61 Let not the Evil One hinder you: for he is to you an enemy avowed. 62 And when (Prophet) Jesus came with clear signs, he said: 'I have come to you with wisdom and to clarify to you some of the matters about which you differ. Fear Allah and obey me. 63 “Allah is indeed my Lord, and yours – therefore worship Him; this is the Straight Path.” 64 But parties from among them differed, so woe to those who were unjust because of the chastisement of a painful day. 65 Are they waiting except for the Hour to come upon them suddenly while they perceive not? 66 On that Day, friends will become each other's enemies, except the righteous -- 67
