The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
THE HOUR HAS come and split is the moon. 1 Yet if they see a sign they turn away, and they say 'A continuous sorcery!' 2 And they belied, and they followed their lusts; and every affair cometh to a final goal. 3 Surely there came to them narratives (of the ancient nations) that should suffice to deter (them from transgression), 4 Consummate wisdom-- but warnings do not avail; 5 So (O Muhammad SAW) withdraw from them. The Day that the caller will call (them) to a terrible thing. 6 They will come forth,- their eyes humbled - from (their) graves, (torpid) like locusts scattered abroad, 7 running (with their necks extended) to the Caller. The unbelievers will say: 'This is indeed a harsh Day' 8 ۞ (Long) before them the nation of Noah belied. They belied Our worshiper saying: 'Mad' and he was reprimanded. 9 Then he invoked his Lord (saying): "I have been overcome, so help (me)!" 10 So We opened the gates of heaven with water pouring forth. 11 We caused the earth to burst forth with springs so that the waters could come together for a predestined purpose. 12 We bore him on an [ark] which, made of planks and nails, 13 and it floated under Our eyes: a recompense for him who had been rejected with ingratitude. 14 And indeed, We have caused such [floating vessels] to remain forever a sign [of Our grace unto man]: who, then, is willing to take it to heart? 15 Then how (terrible) was My Torment and My Warnings? 16 Hence, indeed, We made this Qur'an easy to bear in mind: who, then, is willing to take it to heart? 17 Aad too belied. How then were My punishment and My warnings! 18 Indeed, We sent upon them a screaming wind on a day of continuous misfortune, 19 Plucking out men as if they were roots of palm-trees torn up (from the ground). 20 Then see how (dreadful) was My punishment after My warnings! 21 We have made the Quran easy to understand, but is there anyone who would pay attention? 22
