Thamud denied the warning 23 They said: 'Are we to follow a mortal who is one of us? Then indeed, we would surely be in error and insane. 24 Has the Reminder been cast upon him alone among us? Nay, rather he is an impudent liar.' 25 They will know tomorrow who is the insolent liar. 26 Surely We are going to send the she-camel as a trial for them; therefore watch them and have patience. 27 And tell them that the water is to be divided between them, each drink for each in turn. 28 They called together their companions and agreed to slay the she-camel. 29 So how did My punishment turn out, and My warnings? 30 Then We sent a single blast against them and they became like dry stubble which has been trampled upon. 31 Easy have We made the Qur'an to understand: So is there any one who will be warned? 32 The people of Lot denied the warning. 33 [and so,] behold, We let loose upon them a deadly tempest; and only Lot 's kinsfolk did We save at the break of dawn, 34 As a favour from Us. That is how We reward the grateful. 35 He had warned them of Our might, but they passed over the warnings. 36 And certainly they endeavored to turn him from his guests, but We blinded their eyes; so taste My chastisement and My warning. 37 One early morning Our torment brought upon them utter destruction. 38 "Then taste you My Torment and My Warnings." 39 We have made the Quran easy to understand, but is there anyone who would pay attention? 40
