The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When there happeneth the Event. 1 Then will no (soul) entertain falsehood concerning its coming. 2 The event will be abasing some, and exalting some. 3 when the earth will suddenly shake with a terrible shaking, 4 and the mountains are shattered into [countless] shards, 5 so that they become as scattered dust 6 and you shall be three bands -- 7 Companions of the Right, what are the Companions of the Right? 8 Then those of the left hand -- how (unhappy) will be those of the left hand! 9 And those Foremost (in Faith) will be Foremost (in the Hereafter). 10 These will be those nearest to Allah. 11 In Gardens of Bliss: 12 A multitude of those of old 13 And a few of those of later time. 14 On thrones decorated, 15 reclining on them, arrayed face to face; 16 immortal youths going round about them 17 with goblets, and ewers, and cups filled with water from unsullied springs 18 (no brows throbbing, no intoxication) 19 And with fruit from that which they choose. 20 And flesh of fowls that they desire. 21 And [with them will be their] companions pure, most beautiful of eye, 22 as the likeness of hidden pearls, 23 A reward for what they used to do. 24 Therein they hear no vain or sinful discourse. 25 Nought but the saying: peace! peace! 26 The Companions of the Right (O Companions of the Right!) 27 They will be in (the shade) of thornless lote 28 And [banana] trees layered [with fruit] 29 And shade extended 30 Gushing water, 31 And fruit in plenty 32 unfailing, unforbidden, 33 And on couches or thrones, raised high. 34 and their spouses We shall have brought them into being afresh, 35 And made them virginal, 36 intensely loving and of matching age. 37 For those on the right. 38
