Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ The sure calamity! 1 How awesome that laying-bare of the truth! 2 And what could make thee conceive what that laying-bare of the truth will be? 3 Samood and Ad called the striking calamity a lie. 4 So as for Thamud, they were destroyed by the overpowering [blast]. 5 And as for A'ad, they were destroyed by a fierce roaring wind, 6 which He let loose upon them for seven nights and eight days in succession; so that (if you had been there) you might have seen people lying prostrate, as though they were uprooted trunks of hollowed palm trees. 7 Do you now see any trace of them? 8 And Firon and those before him and the overthrown cities continuously committed sins. 9 They disobeyed the Messenger of their Lord and He seized them with torment which increased with time. 10 Lo! when the waters rose, We carried you upon the ship 11 that We might make it a reminder for you and for heeding ears to hold. 12 When the single blast is sounded on the trumpet, 13 And the earth and the mountains are borne away and crushed with a single crushing. 14 on that Day shall that indubitable event come to pass; 15 And the heaven shall be rent in sunder, it on that Day shall be frail. 16 And the angels will be on its sides, and eight will, that Day, bear the Throne of thy Lord above them. 17 On that day all your secrets will be exposed. 18 Those who will receive the books of the records of their deeds in their right hands will say, "Come and read my record. 19 Certainly I thought that I should encounter my reckoning.' 20 So he shall be in a pleasing life 21 In a Garden on high, 22 With fruits hanging low within reach, 23 “Eat and drink with pleasure – the reward of what you sent ahead, in the past days.” 24 But as for him who is given his book in his left hand, he shall say, 'Would that I had not been given my book 25 and knew nothing of my reckoning. 26 Would that it (my death) had ended it all! 27 My wealth has not helped me a thing 28 My authority is gone away from me. 29 (It will be said): "Seize him and fetter him, 30 And then expose him to hell-fire 31 Then into a chain whose length is seventy cubits insert him." 32 Lo! He used not to believe in Allah the Tremendous, 33 Nor he urged on others the feeding of the poor. 34 and so, no friend has here today, 35 Nor food other than suppuration (filth) 36 None will eat except the Khati'un (sinners, disbelievers, polytheists, etc.). 37
