The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
By the angels who drag forth vehemently. 1 and gently take it away; 2 by the angels who float (in the heavens by the will of God), 3 and the outstrippers (angels), outstripping, 4 And those who govern the event, 5 One Day everything that can be in commotion will be in violent commotion, 6 Followed by oft-repeated (commotions): 7 On that Day some hearts shall tremble (with fright), 8 Unable to lift their gaze. 9 They say: "Shall we go back to our original state 10 even though we may have become [a heap of] crumbling bones?" 11 They said: That then would be a return occasioning loss. 12 It will be only one scaring shout, 13 When lo! they shall be wakeful. 14 Has the story of Moses reached thee? 15 When his Lord called to him in the holy valley, Towa: 16 "Go to the Pharaoh who has become refractory, 17 Then say: Have you (a desire) to purify yourself: 18 "'And that I guide thee to thy Lord, so thou shouldst fear Him?'" 19 And he showed him the greatest sign, 20 In response, he denied and disobeyed. 21 Then he turned his back, striving hard (against Allah). 22 then he mustered 23 “I am the supreme lord of you all.” 24 So Allah seized him in exemplary punishment for the last and the first [transgression]. 25 Indeed in that is a warning for whoever would fear [Allah]. 26
