He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ He frowned and then turned away 1 because the blind man approached him! 2 Yet for all thou didst know, [O Muhammad,] he might perhaps have grown in purity, 3 or receive some (Quranic) advice which would benefit him. 4 But the self-sufficient, 5 to a rich man, 6 though it is not thy concern, if he does not cleanse himself. 7 But as for he who came to you striving [for knowledge] 8 And he fears, 9 You neglect. 10 Nay, (do not do like this), indeed it (these Verses of this Quran) are an admonition, 11 (and whoso wills, shall remember it) 12 (This Quran) is also recorded in honorable books, 13 Exalted and purified, 14 borne by the hands of scribes, 15 Honourable and obedient. 16 Woe to man! What hath made him reject Allah; 17 Out of what did Allah create him? 18 From a (sperm) drop He created him and then determined him, 19 and then makes it easy for him to go through life; 20 then makes him to die, and buries him, 21 Then when He listeth, He shall raise him to life. 22 Nay, but (man) hath not done what He commanded him. 23 Let man reflect on the food he eats. 24 How We pour water in showers 25 Then We cracked the earth open under pressure (of germination) 26 how We made the grain to grow, 27 together with grapes and vegetables, 28 And olives and date-palms, 29 and gardens dense with foliage, 30 And fruits and herbage: 31 Provision for you and your cattle. 32 Then when cometh the Deafening Cry 33 That Day shall a man flee from his brother, 34 his mother, his father, 35 his wife and his sons: 36 for on that day everyone will be completely engrossed in his own concerns. 37 Some faces that Day, will be bright (true believers of Islamic Monotheism). 38 laughing, joyous; 39 but others will be gloomy 40 Blackness overcoming them. 41 Those are the disbelievers, the wicked. 42
