He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ (The Prophet) frowned and turned away, 1 Because there came to him the blind man. 2 for how can you know that he might seek to purify himself, 3 Or that he might receive admonition, and that the admonition might profit him? 4 As for him who regardeth himself self-sufficient 5 you attended to him, 6 though you are not to be blamed if he would not purify himself -- 7 And as to him who comes to you striving hard, 8 and who has fear of God, 9 Of him wast thou unmindful. 10 No indeed; this is only a Reminder. 11 and whoso wills, shall remember it 12 Inscribed in Writs honoured, 13 Exalted, pure. 14 By the hands of scribes. 15 Noble and righteous. 16 Cursed is man; how disbelieving is he. 17 Of what did He create him? 18 From a (sperm) drop He created him and then determined him, 19 Then the way He made easy. 20 Then He caused him to die and made him to be buried. 21 Then when He pleases, He will bring him back to life. 22 But no. He has not fulfilled what was enjoined on him. 23 Then let mankind look at his food - 24 That We pour forth water in abundance, 25 and cleaved the earth, cleaving it asunder; 26 and therein made the grains to grow 27 grapes, vegetables, 28 And olive-trees and palm-trees 29 And gardens, dense with many trees, 30 and fruits and fodder 31 for you and for your herds to delight in. 32 At length, when there comes the Deafening Noise,- 33 On the day when a man fleeth from his brother 34 And his mother and his father 35 his wife and his sons: 36 Every man of them shall on that day have an affair which will occupy him. 37 Some faces that Day, will be bright (true believers of Islamic Monotheism). 38 laughing, rejoicing at glad tidings. 39 And [other] faces, that Day, will have upon them dust. 40 Blackness overcoming them. 41 These are they who are unbelievers, the wicked. 42
