The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
By the heaven and the Morning Star 1 And what shall make thee know that which the night-comer is? 2 The star of piercing brightness; 3 There is no soul but has a protector over it. 4 LET MAN, then, observe out of what he has been created: 5 He has been created from an ejected drop of fluid 6 Proceeding from between the back-bone and the ribs, 7 Indeed, Allah, to return him [to life], is Able. 8 On the Day when man's deepest secrets shall be put to the test 9 Then he shall have no power nor any helper. 10 By the Firmament which returns (in its round), 11 And the earth which splitteth (with the growth of trees and plants) 12 the Quran is the final word, 13 and is no idle tale. 14 They are devising guile, 15 But I too am devising a plan. 16 Therefore respite the unbelievers, and delay them for a while. 17
