The Sun (Al-Shams)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the sun and its morning brightness, 1 by the moon when it follows the sun, 2 And [by] the day when it displays it 3 The night when it covers him over, 4 By the heaven and That which built it 5 The earth and its spreading out, 6 by the soul and Who shaped it 7 And its enlightenment as to its wrong and its right;- 8 He who purifies it will indeed be successful, 9 and he who suppresses it will be ruined. 10 Thamud (people) denied (their Prophet) through their transgression (by rejecting the true Faith of Islamic Monotheism, and by following polytheism, and by committing every kind of sin). 11 When among them the great wretch arose, 12 And the apostle of God had to tell them: "This is God's she-camel, let her drink." 13 Then they belied him and they hamstrung her; wherefore their Lord overwhelmed them for their crime, and made it equal. 14 He dreadeth not the sequel (of events). 15
